Australia Post suspends all surface mail to Hong Kong due to backlog in Australian ports.
As staffing shortages due to the Covid-19 pandemic continue to escalate, the pressure on incoming mail continues to mount.
Australia Post (Australia Post) made an important update on the provision of services, and issued notices to Hong Kong, Taiwan and other places, stating that due to the limited processing capacity of Sydney Port, from September 1 (Thursday), all surface mail services to Australia will be suspended until further notices.
In addition, since surface mail to Christmas Island, Cocos Island, Nauru, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands are all forwarded through Australia, related services will also be suspended from the same day.
Members of the public may consider using the available air mail services, Speedpost and Vantage services for sending mail items to Australia for the time being.
